The Cannon County Vietnam Veterans of America and Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 recently held programs to honor and remember Patriot Day and local heroes in observance of September 11.

From September 7-11, the Cannon County Vietnam Veterans of America held the Field of Honor for Local Heros event. Over 250 flags flew in honor of individual local heroes. DTC3 was proud to be able to film the opening and closing ceremonies of this event.

Also, on September 11, the Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 held its Patriot Day Ceremony at Cannon County High School. During this event, a commemoration of selfless service was held. It included honoring local employees, including first responders and utility employees, and remembering September 11.

The 2023 DTC Communications Annual Meeting was held on Saturday, September 16, at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds in Alexandria, TN. Members of the cooperative stopped by the event to cast ballots in the Director Election.  If you were unable to attend this year’s meeting, we certainly missed you, but you can view the meeting on DTC3 on the following days:

Thursday, September 28 – 5:30 p.m.

Playoffs: Beat Sycamore 41-0 in the first round. Defeated Fairview 28-6 in second round. Lost to East Nashville 27-40 in quarterfinals.
Season Notes: The Owls captured their first region championship in five years last season. Smith County will turn to freshman Riley Martin under center with all-around leader Peyton Hix anchoring both sides of the ball as the competition will be tough in a loaded Region 3-2A.

Playoffs: Defeated Lookout Valley 49-8 in the first round. Beat South Pittsburg 14-7 in second round. Lost to Clay County 6-41 in the quarterfinals.
Season Notes: With the departure of 20 seniors, the upcoming season will present an opportunity for new talent to emerge and step into leadership roles for the Tigers. Gordonsville is poised to break the cycle and get back on top of Region 4-1A this season.
