2020 portion of DTC Sports' high school basketball coverage starts this week

The DTC Sports crews will be back in action this week for the 202 portion of the high school basketball coverage.

On Tuesday night, January 7, Terry Collins and Jonathan Bush will be in Gordonsville for a District 6-A clash between the Gordonsville Tigers and Tigerettes, and the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets. Tip off of the game will be at 6:00 p.m. from Gordonsville High School.

The Tigerettes will bring a 7-7 record into Tuesday night’s game with the Lady Jackets, who sport a 4-11 overall mark after a win Monday night over Ezell-Harding. Both teams sit at 1-3 in the District standings. The Tigers, meanwhile, have won six of their last nine games and enter Tuesday’s game 9-6 on the season. The GHS boys also share first place in the district standings with a 3-1 record, tied with Clay County, whom the Tigers have already beaten in the early portion of the District schedule. The Yellow Jackets also earned a win over Ezell-Harding on Monday, and will enter Tuesday’s game 6-9 overall with a 1-3 district record.

Once the games are filmed on Tuesday night, they will air on DTC3 on the following days:

Friday, January 10 – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, January 11 – 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, January 12 – 1:00 p.m.
Monday, January 13 – 7:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Tom Duggin and Grant James will be in Smithville on Friday night, January 10, as the DeKalb County Tigers and Lady Tigers welcome District border rival, Cannon County. Tip off of the District doubleheader is at 6:00 p.m.

Both the Lionettes and Tigerettes have 1-2 District records during the early portion of the schedule. The veteran Lionettes opened the season 5-0 and have put together a 12-4 mark thus far on the season. DeKalb County, a State Tournament qualifier from last season, has battled injuries early on, but swept through and won the Daytona Beach Shootout during the Christmas break, helping to even their record at 7-7 on the season. Cannon County hosts Central Magnet on Tuesday night, prior to Friday’s game, while DeKalb County hosts White County on Tuesday.

The Cannon County Lions are much improved under first-year head coach, Jason Knowles. Despite having dropped three of their last four games, the Lions enter the week with a 10-6 overall record, and are in a three-way tie for second place in the District standings at 2-1. DeKalb County has also dropped three of their last four, having played a tough first half schedule. Coach John Sanders has his team sitting at 4-9 entering the week, and 1-2 in district play.

The replay of the Cannon County/DeKalb County games on DTC3 are set for:

Tuesday, January 14 – 7:00 pm.
Wednesday, January 15 – 1:00 p.m.
Friday, January 17 – 7:00 p.m.
