Tom Duggin of DTC Sports discusses the upcoming football season with Watertown head football coach, Gavin Webster.
Coach Webster is entering his 15th season as the head coach of the Purple Tigers, who are coming off the best season in school history in 2019. The Purple Tigers ran through the regular season a perfect 10-0, outright winning the Region 4-2A Championship, and outscoring their opponents by an average of 37.0 PPG along the way. After convincing wins over Bledsoe County and Westmoreland in the first two rounds of the Class 2A State Playoffs, Watertown ran into a red-hot Trousdale County team that slowed down their high-powered attack in a 15-8 quarterfinal win win over the Purple Tigers in a muddy Robinson Stadium. The loss left Watertown with some unfinished business on the table for this year, but the Purple Tigers will have to replace 13 seasons from last year, including Tennessee Tech freshman Heath Price, QB Bryce Webster, three starters on the offensive line, and a number of key defensive players.
