Tom Duggin of DTC Sports discusses the upcoming football season with first-year Smith County head football coach, Scott Murray.
Smith County finished 4-7 last season, but made their fourth consecutive playoff appearance and their 19th overall in the past 20 seasons. Despite that, Coach Mike Dickerson stepped down at the end of the season, and Owl alum Scott Murray was hired to take the reins of the program. Murray, who has previous prep head coaching experience at Glencliff, Whites Creek and Hunters Lane before returning home to Carthage, inherits 17 seniors and 13 starters from last year’s team. But, with a virtually new coaching staff in place, it will be a different look when the Owls hit the field for the first time this season on August 23.
